The PGA Tour season is in full swing and we have some great golf coming up in the next few weeks! There are five big tournaments on the schedule that will feature the best golfers in the world battling it out for the titles and prize money. In this blog post, I'll be breaking down my top picks and bets for rounds 1-5 of each event. From favorites to longshots, underdogs to props, I'll be covering it all so you have the best information for betting on golf during this exciting stretch. Let's get started with my picks and bets for the upcoming PGA Tour action!
The Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club is a star-studded event that attracts the biggest names in golf. My pick to win it all is Rory McIlroy (Odds: +1000). Rory is the best ball striker on Tour right now and Riviera sets up perfectly for his game. I love betting on him at 10/1 odds here. For round 1, take a look at Tony Finau over Jason Kokrak (+105). Finau is the much better ball striker of the two and I expect him to get off to a good start on Thursday.
The Honda Classic is held at PGA National, one of the toughest courses on Tour. With its strong winds and water hazards, ball striking and course management are key. I'm taking Shane Lowry as my pick to win (+2500). His precise iron play and scrambling ability suit this course well. A player I like for round 1 is Chris Kirk over Sepp Straka (-120). Kirk has great course history here and is in good recent form.
At Bay Hill Club, Rory McIlroy (+800) is again my favorite to take home the title. He's won this event twice before and sets up well for his high ball flight. For round 2, take Tyrrell Hatton over Sungjae Im (-105). Hatton has an excellent short game and should scramble well around Bay Hill's tricky greens.
The "fifth major" is held at the famous TPC Sawgrass. I'm backing Patrick Cantlay (+1400) as my tournament pick. His elite iron play should help him avoid Sawgrass' hazards. For round 3, bet on Shane Lowry over Hideki Matsuyama (+100). Lowry is an inspired pick for Sawgrass' Irishlinks style layout.
The unpredictable match play format makes this fun to bet on. I'll take Patrick Reed (+2500) to emerge from the group stage undefeated and advance to the knockout rounds. For a round 4 prop, bet on Justin Thomas to record more birdies than Jordan Spieth (-120) when they square off. JT is the better iron player and should make more birdies in their match.
That wraps up my top picks and bets for the upcoming PGA Tour schedule. From favorites like Rory and Cantlay to underdogs like Lowry and longshots like Reed, I'm backing a variety of players during this stellar stretch of golf. For the round bets, I targeted golfers I expect to get off to fast starts or be steady with their scoring. Use these picks and bets as a guide, do your own research, and enjoy following the great golf action ahead! Let me know if my picks pay off for you, and good luck with your wagers
